The state has nearly $450 million to spend on hurricane-related infrastructure projects after repairing schools, rebuilding the Superdome and helping Entergy Corp.’s New Orleans affiliate.

The LRA’s executive director, Andy Kopplin, said he should know in six to 12 weeks how much money Road Home expects to spend. Kopplin said low-interest loans to supplement housing grants make a lot of sense if the Road Home program has money left over. As for infrastructure, he said there is no deadline for distributing the remaining $445 million.

“We’re in the rebuilding phase,” Kopplin said. “We want to allocate it so folks can get to spending it.”
