Political fallout from storm deep
ADVOCATE EDITORIAL
(excerpt)
At a time when Louisiana could benefit from vigorous leadership in recovering from last year’s hurricanes, four key players in the recovery find themselves in politically weakened positions.
This makes for a very troubling constellation of political paralysis in a season when Louisiana really could use strong allies at all levels of government.
As for Blanco, we would encourage the governor to let her low poll numbers be a source of liberation. If one is hitting the basement in approval ratings, after all, then what is to be lost by vigorously and consistently challenging the old guard and promoting a new Louisiana amidst the rubble?
In politics, when all else fails, one’s last, best hope might be to simply do the right thing.
