La. Democratic Party to seek out voters
Capitol news bureau
The Secretary of State’s Office won’t be the only entity trying to reach New Orleans voters in the coming weeks.
The Louisiana Democratic Party, with funding from the national party, will call displaced voters and mail them letters urging them to vote, said state party chairman Chris Whittington.
“We’ll spent several hundred thousand dollars on voter participation,” he said.
New Orleans has long been a major Democratic Party stronghold.
“We want to make sure they know they don’t have to drive back to New Orleans to vote,” Whittington said.
