Parish President offers fundraiser tickets
By JOHN MCMILLAN
GONZALES — Parish President Ronnie Hughes acknowledged Thursday that during a luncheon he hosted Wednesday, he offered parish employees the opportunity to participate in his re-election campaign.
Asked about reports that he tried to sell $40 tickets to his December fundraiser during Wednesday’s meeting on public property, Hughes replied, “If they wanted to buy tickets, they could.”
“You can’t use parish employees on parish time for a campaign,” Ricky Babin, parish legal adviser, said of Wednesday’s incident.
