Blanco opposes proposed raise for officials (in election year)

"The commission recommended that statewide elected officials pay go up effective July 1, with the beginning of the new budget year. That’s about six months before to the end of their current terms." Making pay raise proposals effective in 2008 with the next office holders would give them “a better chance” of passage, (Senate President Don) Hines said."
