BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Gov. Kathleen Blanco departs on Monday for a two-week economic development mission to Japan, Taiwan, China and Kuwait.
Blanco planned a Far East trip last year but it was canceled after Hurricane Katrina devastated much of southeast Louisiana.
Accompanying Blanco on the trip are her husband, Raymond Blanco, adviser Aprill Springfield and Department of Economic Development Secretary Michael Olivier.
The group returns to Louisiana Nov. 13.
LPNS COMMENTARY: THE GOVERNOR APPEARS TO BE VEERING OFF OF THE ROAD HOME FOR A WHILE AS SHE HEADS TO KUWAIT(?) WITH HER HUSBAND AND HER IN-HOUSE POLITICAL CONSULTANT. A WISE EXPENDITURE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS?
