PROPERTY OWNERS FIGHT TO RESTORE LOUISIANA LAND AND WATER OVER BIG OIL COMPANIES OBJECTIONS

On Thursday, April 27th, the Louisiana Senate Committee on Natural Resources will hear Senate Bill 655, a bill sponsored by Governor Blanco and the major oil companies.

If passed Senate Bill 655 will do the following:

*Deny Property Rights to property owners in Louisiana

*Drastically slowdown the cleanup of the 20,000 to 30,000 hazardous waste sites and the pollution of public water supplies left in Louisiana by the large oil companies

*Deny property owners the right to take these oil companies to court and get a jury of Louisiana citizens to decide how much the oil companies will pay, when they will pay, and set the standards of cleanup for these sites

*Give Big Government the control over this cleanup as well as control over a person’s property for decades

*Large oil companies want bureaucrats to control this cleanup because the large oil companies control the bureaucrats

IF YOU WANT TO THE LARGE OIL COMPANIES TO CLEANUP THE MESS THEY HAVE CREATED, THEN, PLEASE CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR TODAY AND TELL HIM OR HER TO VOTE AGAINST SENATE BILL 655.

This message is brought to you by the Property Owners for Louisiana Land and Water Restoration. Ken Killen, a Louisiana businessman, is the Chairman of this organization.
