Capitol news bureau

A voter education program for hurricane evacuees will be held Saturday at the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

The interactive sessions will cover voter rights, qualifying periods as well as ways displaced people can still vote. Elected officials will also be available to address voter concerns.

The video conference will also air in Houston, Chicago, Shreveport, Springfield, Ill., and New York. Citizens interested in participating are urged to locate a convenient site by visiting for locations nationwide.

The session is a collaborative effort of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, the SU Ag Center and several national and state groups.
