Surrounded by relatives and old friends, Mike Francis announced his candidacy for Secretary of State from his boyhood home of Jena in LaSalle Parish.
Francis, CEO of Francis Drilling Fluids in Crowley, and former Louisiana Republican Party Chairman, delivered a strong message of change.
The people of Louisiana are crying out for new leadership.
It is time to finish the job of cleaning up the corruption and failure of our political system in Louisiana.
Today, I humbly offer myself as a candidate for Secretary of State and ask the citizens of Louisiana for their votes.
MIKE FRANCIS ON BUSINESS…
I am a lifelong businessman.
I understand how important a business approach is to the operation of the Secretary of State’s office in economic development and jobs.
Efficient operation and ease of documentation will be the hallmark of my office.
New jobs and new opportunities in the private sector will be my goal.
Louisiana needs a leader who can get things done and run an organization efficiently and successfully.
I’ll use my real world experience as your next Secretary of State.
MIKE FRANCIS ON VOTING…
As chief elections officer, it is the Secretary of State’s job to insure that our people have an honest and even-handed election system.
Many Louisiana citizens have been temporarily displaced, but they are still citizens of Louisiana and must be allowed an opportunity to vote. We have a responsibility to find them and encourage them to participate.
For them, the winds of the hurricane are still blowing. We must not fail them in their hour of need. As Secretary of State, I will be their advocate.
Our election system must be above corruption and above tampering.
It must be protected from manipulation and secure from vote buying and voter fraud.
Unfortunately, clean elections have not always been our history. I am totally committed to changing this.
